COMPONENTS in each kit include the following attention:
-all seals, gaskets, seal rings and filters are
replaced or provided are the finest premium quality, precision made components;
-all drums and sealing surfaces
are re-surfaced to proper face textures for optimum performance their specific function;
-drum bushings
are replaced;
-Tailhousing bushing and seal
are provided for replacement;
-pump
is re-machined, new bushing and seals installed and modifications made to enhance
lubrication, line pressure, converter apply pressure and cooling. The pump is carefully blueprinted
and assembled with .002-.0025" side clearance for optimum performance.
- pump and forward drive hub are modified
to increase lubricaton and cooling of the direct clutch pack for longer clutch life;
-a new 5 pinion, all steel carrier, front
planetary is utilized to provide additional torque capacity for high performance and race applications. [ALL Pro Sportsman and Competition Eliminator Kits]
A 4 pinion, Aluminum carrier front planetary is utilized in
the Street Pro series Module Kit.
-forward clutch pack release spring,
roller clutch and spring components, thrust washers and seal rings are replaced with
new upgraded components;
- High gear drum utilizes Chromemoly high
pressure seal rings (except '62-70 727);
-
12 new Direct Clutch springs are installed to provide firm clean upshifts
and prevent clutch drag in 1st and 2nd gear;
-a new Billlet steel 4.2:1
ratio 2nd gear apply lever (kickdown) is supplied to improve 2nd gear apply performance
and increase band apply pressure for greater clamping force.
-the governor assembly is thoroughly
cleaned, polished, re-surfaced and reassembled to provide higher shift point capability; [except
on the Competition Eliminator model, in which it is eliminated]
-the aluminum output shaft
support is re-surfaced or replaced and the output shaft and rear drum bearing surfaces of the support are Molybdenum
burnished to reduce friction and substancially increasing its' load bearing capacity;
-the output shaft
is carefully inspected for heat damage, straightness or signs of wear and then polished on all bearing surfaces to reduce
bearing friction, wear and enhance lubrication. The fluid transfer passages are meticulously cleaned and checked
to assure full lubricaton of the planetaries and fluid return;
-clutch friction
plates (5 in High Gear Drum [4 in Street Pro model] and
4 in Forward) are all premium high energy Kevlar compound.
-The Raybestos ProSeries Intermediate
band featuring the latest technology in high co-efficient composite is supplied,
to maximize performance, longevity and fade-free consistancy;
-The friction plates and bands are all presoaked in quality transmission fluid prior
to assembly to prevent scoring and burn-in on start-up.
-all pressure
plates are machined and surfaced to provide 100% friction contact apply area;
-all friction bearing
steel plates are new high grade American made, components with a surface designed specifically
to enhance fluid retention with the friction clutch materials utilized;
- Premium quality
metal Seal Rings are supplied for the Low/Reverse servo, accumulator and
Intermediate band apply and release servo
- each component
including the pump, clutch packs, servos, forward drum assembly, input and output shaft, are fully blueprinted to the optimum clearance specification.
NOTE: All A500/518 Modular series
Kits include a completely assembled OVERDRIVE section - to
eliminate the difficulty and special tools required in precisely assembling this portion. This assembly
is complete with beaded and coated housing (case).
- A new
neutral safety switch and 6 AN cooler fittings are supplied for leak free
performance and reliability.
The VALVEBODY provided is:- carefully disassembled
and inspected for previous modification, cracks, warpage or damaged passages or bores;
- every valve is hand
polished to remove burrs and scratches;
- the valve bores are carefully
honed to remove burrs or scratches;
- shift and pressure governing
springs are tested and/or replaced to increase converter apply, line and governor pressures and quicker
shift characteristics;
- Anti Drainback valving is added
to prevent converter drain-back which would result in delayed converter engagement, fluid aeration, inconsistant performance
and accelerated clutch wear;
-modifications and valve changes
are made to provide Lubrication in all gears including Park;
-the separator plate
and fluid passages are modified to substancially reduce overlap between gears and increase fluid
flow and velocity to apply clutch packs quicker and with greater clamping force and release bands quicker to improve
performance and increase component life; [The Competiton Eliminator valvebody, utilizes the SMR exclusive, lazer cut,
Stainlesss Steel separator plate, to prevent crossflows and accerated wear from constant high operating pressures.
- the main governing
body and transfer plate are re-surfaced to prevent crossflow and pressure leakage and in some models, fluid channels
are reinforced to avoid possible fatigue failure;
- each valvebody is precision
assembled using hand tools only and carefully calibrated for it's particular application;
and
- the valvebody is finally
bench tested to assure proper pressure apply sequences, shift circuit operation and leakdown.
NOTE: The valvebody included in the A500/A518 Electornic versions, include NEW ELECTONICS
(Plug & harness, Soleniods, sensors and transducer) to assure re-newed performance and reliability.
The new Stamped Steel Deep Pan included with the ProSportsman
and Competition Eliminator models, are cleaned and painted and include a drain plug for easy service.
A Billet Aluminum filter extension is included to provide an un-interupted supply of fluid under the demanding
environment. [the Street Pro kit includes a Drain Plug Kit for installation into your stock transmission
pan]
TESTING: Every function of the transmission sub-assembly
module, is precision tested during the build to assure leak free pressure apply of each component. Every circuit
apply and release function is precisely tested and evaluated prior to completion. Only through comprehensive tests are
we assured that the completed transmission will perform to its' peak efficiency and customer satisfaction.
