Hemi engines to gain a substancial performance advantage, its' use was quickly expanded to accomodate the installation of
the reliable Overdrive transmissions behind the Big Block engines.

The MIDPLATE style adapter consists of a 1/4" aircraft
aluminum adapter plate which can also be used as an engine mounting plate.
This model is used primarily in RACECARS and HOT RODS where the engine is supported
by engine plates on the front and rear of the engine.

The PROFILED Adapter Kit utilizes a 1/4" aircraft aluminum adapter
plate which creates the mating surface between the engine and the transmission bellhousing. The outer contour of the
adapter plate is profiled to match the outer contours of the transmission bellhousing.
This model is used in the majority of the applications where the engine is supported
by stock type engine mounts. It does not interfere with stock component such as linkages, exhaust and is not readily
noticable when looking at the installed product.
EACH KIT IS A PRECISION ENGINEERED PRODUCT
CONSISTING OF:
- ADAPTER PLATE is CNC PRECISON
MACHINED (for exact dowel alignment assuring precise crankshaft to input shaft alignment) 1/4" 6061
T6 AIRCRAFT ALUMINUM which provides a very strong union between the engine and the transmission.

- CRANKSHAFT ADAPTER is a CNC PRECISION MACHINED
steel plate which moves the flexplate rearward 1/4" (the thickness of the adapter plate) to accomodate the
use of a standard dimension torque converter and starter to ring gear alignment. This permits the use of the STOCK STARTER* so no special aftermarket starter is required.

- NEW FLEXPLATE is designed to work with the Crankshaft adapter
supplied to locate and attach STOCK TORQUE CONVERTER(small block and
performance) [this flexplate will not accept the 90 deg. Magnum converter]

- ALL NECESSARY HARDWARE including new offsetting
hardened dowels, machine screws, bolts, nuts and washers. Special flexplate to crankshaft bolts required to install the flexplate
and crankshaft adapter to the crankshaft flange are also included.

This adapter is designed to permit the use of the later 1964 and up small block
Torqueflite 727A and the newer A518 OVERDRIVE transmissions behind the Early style Chrysler
HEMI engines.
The later transmissions and repair parts are more readily available and can be
modified to handle much greater horsepower and torque than the original transmissions used behind these engines.
The use of the overdrive unit gives the fuel economy (if there is such a thing) of
to-days cars while handling the power of the glory days.
THIS KIT CONTAINS:
- A PRECISION MACHINED 5/8" 6061 T6 ALUMINUM ADAPTER PLATE
(which is profiled to the contour of the bellhousing);
- A PRECISION MACHINED CRANKSHAFT SPACER AND ADAPTER PLATE (which
pilots the torque converter in the center of the crank instead of the outer flange diameter of the original crankshaft) THIS
ADAPTER PERMITS THE USE OF THE 426 HEMI STYLE FLEXPLATE (AVAILABLE FROM YOUR DEALER or
SMR);
- ALL OF THE NECESSARY BOLTS and HARDWARE REQUIRED TO
COMPLETE YOUR INSTALLATION.
- NOTE: FLEXPLATE and CONVERTER BOLTS MUST BE OBTAINED
SEPARATELY.
